He testified in front of the Us Senate Judiciary Committee defending the rights of States to enact Voter ID laws and prevent non-citizens from voting.
As County Attorney, Matt Schultz successfully prosecuted some of the most violent crimes, including murder, sexual assault, and arson. Matt served as Madison County Attorney for eight years. He not only prosecuted criminals, but litigated the County's civil cases, including cases before the Iowa Court of Appeals.
Matt Schultz graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines. He received an Associates Degree from BYU-Idaho, a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Iowa, and his Law Degree from Creighton University. Matt served a two-year mission for his church in Argentina and he is an Eagle Scout. He is married to his wife Shelli Schultz and has five children and two step children.
