By Paul Pate, Former Iowa Secretary of State
I served as Iowa’s Secretary of State from 1995 to 1999. I know what it takes to win and I know what it takes to lead. As the former chief commissioner of elections, I know too well the importance of having a watchdog over our election process to guarantee that they are both clean and fair. Matt Schultz has demonstrated to me that he is indeed the man to do just that. That is why Matt Schultz is the only choice for Iowa Secretary of State.
He has a strong message of accountability in elections and as a city councilman he has a strong record of fiscal responsibility. Join me on June 8th in supporting Councilman Matt Schultz for Iowa Secretary of State. He will stop voter fraud by instituting a photo ID, reforming same-day registration, and creating a crime stoppers hotline for voter fraud in Iowa.

For Secretary of State, I urge you to vote for Matt Schultz. He will be a pro-jobs Secretary of State. He will also work to ensure fair elections by implementing a system that will “make it easy to vote, and nearly impossible to cheat” starting off with requiring photo identification, then reforming our same-day voter registration process, and creating a hotline to report voter fraud. I also think that Schultz represents the future of the Republican Party, and we need to cultivate leadership for races further into the future.

Did you know you have to show a photo ID before you get on an airplane, open a checking account, and even to buy adult beverages? So why don’t we have to show an ID when we vote? I’m Councilman Matt Schultz, and when I’m elected Secretary of State I’m going to fight to require a Photo ID when you go to vote. Remember, Ronald Reagan always said “Trust, but verify.” Go to my website VoteMattSchultz.com, then vote Schultz for Iowa Secretary of State on June 8th so we can stop voter fraud in Iowa.

Excerpt from article:
Along with election integrity, Schultz wants the Secretary of State’s Office to play a larger role in business development.
“The secretary of state ought to be an advocate for business and business development, not just sit under the Golden Dome, but be out there talking to businesses to find out what they need and what the state can do to help them grow,” Schultz said.
A chief concern is high commercial property taxes and said the state needs to offset that, perhaps with lower business taxes, to encourage business development and job creation.
He’d add a link from the secretary of state’s website to the federal e-verify website as well as training videos so businesses would know how to use the federal e-verify website.
Although he may be promoting himself as the “pro-jobs” candidate, Schultz doesn’t overlook the secretary of state’s responsibility for elections.
“I’m the one candidate really pushing for a photo ID for voting,” he said. “You have to have a photo ID to get on a plane, cash a check or to buy alcoholic beverage. It doesn’t make sense to me that you don’t need one to vote.”
He also wants to reform — nor throw out — Iowa’s Election Day registration law. He proposed that people who register at the polls would vote by provisional ballot so election officials can verify those voters are who they say they are and are voting in the appropriate precinct.
His concern with election integrity is not to suggest voter fraud is widespread, “but any voter fraud is too much,” Schultz said.
